Synopsis

Una buona mamma vale cento maestre!
(A good mother is worth a hundred teachers - Sicilian Proverb)

Joan Scalora (Jan Gass) lives to be the perfect wife, mother and homemaker. She’s raised her only son, Michael (Matt Shepherd), in the traditional Catholic faith. Life is as it should be until Michael’s shocking announcement on his 22nd birthday:  He’s gay and moving in with his Jewish lover, Ethan (Victor Mazzone).  Having endured 25 years of persecution from her Sicilian Italian mother-in-law (Graciela Schreiber), Joan vows to support her son’s relationship 100 percent…with one condition. He has to get married. He can’t live in sin, he’s Catholic for crying out loud!  Joan’s unenthusiastic husband, Frank (Julian Pollack), dares Joan to find a church that will marry the gay couple as well as raise half the money for the wedding.  Joan hasn’t worked a day in her life and thus her adventure begins. With the help of her crazy, single, 35 year old atheist sister, Liz (Belinda Berdes), they try different ways for Joan to raise the money…from a failed Tupperware Party to telemarketing, to finally becoming a very successful sales rep for Sextoy.com! Cha ching!!
